What is TOG and how does it work?
Our sleeping bags are classified according to the TOG system.
In this article, we'll tell you what this means and what to consider when buying a sleeping bag.
What does TOG mean?
TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade , a unit used to measure the "warmth" of a garment (thermal resistance). The higher the rating, the warmer the product.
In the textile industry, it is used to check and verify whether the garment is warm enough or whether it will protect us from the cold.
At molis&co we always strive to create garments with the most suitable TOG for the season.
- Summer: TOG 0.4 and TOG 0.5: For rooms between 23 and 27 degrees.
- Mid-season: TOG 1: For rooms between 21 and 23 degrees.
- Winter: TOG 2.5: For rooms with temperatures below 21 degrees.
Room temperature plays a very important role, so it's also important to know how to dress your baby under the sleeping bag.
How to dress your baby under the sleeping bag?
Making sure our baby isn't too cold or too hot is very important for them to get a restful night's sleep . Therefore, we understand why this is one of the most frequently asked questions.
Below, we show you an infographic that guides you on how to put on the sleeping bag according to the room temperature , the time of year , and the TOG .

Under the sleeping bag, you can wear a long-sleeved onesie or pajamas. If it's very cold, we suggest combining both garments and layering our sleeping bag over them. Our advice is to bundle them up or cover them up just as we would; just because they're children doesn't mean they're any more or less cold.
When sleeping in a crib, the interior slightly retains the heat the child gives off, so the temperature inside the crib is slightly warmer than the room—especially during the spring and summer months. Therefore, we recommend dressing them as warmly as we would, or even a little less.
We want to emphasize that there is no definitive science, since we are basing our analysis on generalized cases, but every baby is unique , and so is every home.
How to check if they are cold or hot?
We recommend touching your baby's chest once the sleeping bag is on: if it feels warm, the sleeping bag is retaining body heat properly. However, if the baby/child is cold or sweating, a TOG would not be appropriate.
Is it necessary to cover them?
With the sleeping bag, there's no need to cover them. However, we do recommend using a blanket, a thin quilt, or a sheet so they can gradually get used to covering themselves.
In conclusion, it is clear that to feel safe and warm all night, our sleeping bags are best.
